About Integral Analytics

Twenty years of helping utilities plan smarter grids.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Integral Analytics builds the software that electric utilities rely on to forecast load, value demand-side programs, and optimize distributed energy resources. Our tools are in use at more than 25 utilities across North America — from major investor-owned utilities to municipal and cooperative utilities managing the same grid transformation challenges at a different scale.

What we do

Analytics software for the distribution grid.

Integral Analytics builds analytical software that helps electric utilities make better decisions about where load will grow, what demand-side programs are worth investing in, and how to coordinate distributed energy resources on the distribution grid. Our products — LoadSEER, DSMore, and IDROP — address three distinct but interconnected planning challenges that utilities face as the grid becomes more complex.

LoadSEER provides geospatial, feeder-level load forecasting that shows planners not just how much load is coming, but exactly where on the distribution system it will land and when. DSMore calculates the cost-effectiveness of energy efficiency, demand response, and DER programs with hour-by-hour, location-specific avoided cost analysis — giving program managers the analytical credibility to defend investment decisions to regulators. IDROP optimizes the real-time dispatch of controllable loads and DERs to minimize distribution operating costs and defer infrastructure investment.

Together, they form an integrated platform that spans the full planning and operations cycle: anticipate, optimize, execute.

Built for a grid that doesn’t sit still

When Integral Analytics was founded, distribution planning was largely a static exercise — utilities built forecasts from historical trends, made capital investment decisions at the system level, and managed a relatively predictable load. That world is gone. EV adoption, distributed solar, battery storage, data centers, and building electrification are fundamentally changing where load lands and how it behaves on the distribution system.

IA’s software was built for this complexity from the start. We don’t retrofit planning approaches designed for a simpler grid — we build analytical tools that treat the grid’s complexity as the starting point, not a problem to be averaged away.

Our history

Two decades in distribution analytics

2005

Founded in Cincinnati, Ohio

Integral Analytics established with a focus on advanced analytics for demand side management — initially serving utilities and public utility commissions with DSMore, a cost-effectiveness analysis tool that would go on to be adopted in more than 30 states.

2007

LoadSEER — geospatial load forecasting

IA launched LoadSEER, bringing parcel-level geospatial load forecasting to distribution planning teams. The web-based platform allowed utility planners to forecast load growth at the feeder and substation level — a fundamentally different approach from the top-down system forecasting methods then in use.

2011

IDROP patent and DER optimization

IA was awarded Patent US20110231028A1 for IDROP, a distributed resource optimization engine for real-time dispatch of controllable loads and DERs. IDROP represented IA’s expansion from planning analytics into distribution operations optimization.

2015–16

Industry recognition

LoadSEER was recognized as one of the most innovative big data and analytics products by Fierce (publisher of SmartGridNews.com) in 2015, and named to GreenTech Media’s Grid Edge Top 20 in 2016 — reflecting growing industry recognition of geospatial distribution planning as a critical utility capability.

2017

Acquired by Willdan Group

Integral Analytics joined Willdan Group (NASDAQ: WLDN), a nationwide provider of professional technical and consulting services to utilities and government agencies. The acquisition brought IA’s software capabilities into Willdan’s broader grid services platform, accelerating growth and expanding IA’s reach across the utility market.

2024–26

AI-powered planning — LoadSEER Studio and SEERNet

IA launched LoadSEER Studio, an AI-assisted planning tool featuring Scout AI for instant spatial forecasting, and SEERNet, the AI intelligence layer powering IA’s next generation of planning applications. Both products reflect IA’s ongoing investment in making distribution planning faster, more accessible, and more intelligent.

What drives us

How we think about utility analytics

Location matters more than average

System-level forecasts and system-average avoided costs hide the most important information for distribution planning: where. Every IA product is built around locational, time-specific analysis rather than averages that obscure the extremes planners need to manage.

Planning and operations belong together

Long-range distribution plans and real-time grid operations are too often disconnected. IA’s products are designed to connect them — feeding LoadSEER forecasts into DSMore valuations and IDROP dispatch, so that what planners assume about DER performance is what operators actually deliver.

Defensibility is a feature

Utility decisions are subject to regulatory scrutiny. IA’s analytical methods are transparent, auditable, and accepted by utility commissions across more than 30 states — because software that produces results planners can’t defend to regulators isn’t useful, however sophisticated it may be.

Deep utility domain knowledge

IA’s team includes experienced distribution planning engineers, data scientists, and economists who understand how utility planning actually works — not just how to model it. That domain depth is reflected in tools that fit naturally into planning workflows rather than requiring planners to adapt to the software.

Part of Willdan Group

IA is part of Willdan Group (NASDAQ: WLDN)

Willdan Group is a nationwide provider of professional technical and consulting services to utilities, government agencies, and private industry. Willdan’s service offerings span electric grid solutions, energy efficiency and sustainability, engineering and planning, and municipal financial consulting — serving approximately 900 distinct customers across the United States.

IA joined Willdan in 2017 as the software analytics complement to Willdan’s comprehensive utility services platform. Together, IA’s analytical software and Willdan’s engineering and implementation capabilities provide utilities with an end-to-end capability for distribution planning, demand side management, and grid modernization.
